Basilica Cistern

Built in the year 532 A.D., the Basilica Cistern is the largest of Istanbul's numerous ancient underground reservoirs. The marble columns, dramatic lighting, and mysterious medusa sculptures evoke the atmosphere of a sacred temple.

By removing color and changing perspectives, I’ve re-imagined the cistern as closer to H.R. Geiger than Indiana Jones.
